ZENCHA "KYUSU" TEAPOT

A Kyusu is a traditional Japanese teapot, most often crafted from clay and recognized by its distinctive side handle set at a right angle to the spout. 

The ZENCHA "kyusu" teapot is an unglazed teapot. Because unglazed pottery is porous, it absorbs excess impurities from the hot water, allowing you to brew a mellow and delicious cup of tea.

The teapot is made of Tokoname ware. Tokoname ware teapots are designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan.

The inside is lined with a mesh. The mesh is a net that runs all the way around the inside of the main body. Because the mesh is fine, it is suitable for brewing all kinds of tea, including teas with fine tea leaves such as our sencha.
